Fighting Food Insecurity, One meal at a Time.
Today, one in four Albertan households and 30% of children face food insecurity, making the need to expand the Calgary Meals on Wheels (CMOW) facility more urgent than ever. In 2025, Calgary Meals on Wheels will proudly celebrate 60 years of service, a milestone that underscores an unwavering commitment to improving the food security and well-being of the Calgary community.
As a longstanding pillar in the community, CMOW serves as a beacon of hope and support, providing nutritious, high-quality and affordable meals with no waiting period and free home delivery. This accessibility is vital for those with mobility or transportation challenges, ensuring that no one in need is left behind. The meals, freshly prepared in-house by Red Seal Chefs and guided by a Registered Dietitian and Dietary Technologist, cater to a wide range of dietary needs, offering safety, nourishment, and peace of mind.
CMOW delivers a variety of programs designed to meet the unique and evolving needs of our community, all organized under our three core program pillars:
Schools
- Student Nutrition supports more than 50 schools throughout the various school districts in Calgary with hot and cold meals, serving 4,200 students monthly.
- Hot Soup provides free hot soup lunches twice a week to 14 identified high-need schools throughout the city, serving 1,400 students.
Home Delivery
- Our Chef’s Daily Special provides fresh-chilled meals 365 days a year to approximately 1,000 unique clients, following a set delivery schedule and offering subsidies based on income levels
- Going Home in collaboration with Alberta Health Services, supports seniors 55+ discharged from hospital by providing free meals for up to 30 days to support their recovery, serving approximately 500 unique clients in 2023.
- My Choice Menu offers affordable frozen entrees on a flexible a-la-carte delivery schedule, supporting approximately 1,200 unique clients in 2023.
Community
- We partner with 27 Community Agencies to provide meals to their vulnerable participants.
- We provide 6 Regional Groups with meals to help feed the communities surrounding Calgary, providing over 80,000 meals under our community pillar annually.
Each year Calgary Meals on Wheels Provides over 1 million to Calgarians facing hunger.
With approximately 1 in 4 Calgarian households struggling with food insecurity, and many parents sacrificing their own meal so that their children can eat, the demand for services continues to grow. Since 1965, we have been dedicated to supporting those in our community who face challenges in accessing nutritious meals. To meet this increasing need, we are expanding our production facility, helping us continue to serve and support our community for the next 60 years and beyond.
“I have noticed the increase of students coming to school without food. Even kids who used to have full lunches are showing up with less and less food, or none at all. It breaks my heart to see such an increase, but I am so thankful for your Hot Soup Program and the impact I see it has on my students.”

Our Facility
Our facility was custom built in 2013 to meet the needs of our community at that time. Back then, Alberta’s food insecurity rate was 11% and we were providing 380,000 meals a year. Today, with food insecurity more than doubling, we are still operating from the same facility, but now produce over 1 million meals a year. With rising food insecurity and growing community need, our freezer and cooler space has reached full capacity.
To meet this critical need, we must expand our facility to include an additional 2,000 sq ft of freezer and cooler space. This expansion will allow us to provide an additional 180,000 meals each year to those in need, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. However, this crucial project can only succeed with the generous support of our community.
How does your support of the Willow Park Charity Golf Classic help CMOW?
This expansion is a critical next step in for CMOW to increase capacity and serve our city better. Allowing us to provide an additional 180,000 meals annually and will allow us to meet the increased demand and improve food security and welling of our community by preparing and delivering nutritious, quality, and affordable meals.
Your support helps CMOW to fed more vulnerable people in Calgary, helping change lives one meal at a time!
CMOW is proud to partner with the Willow Park community to help fund their facility expansion to our production facility in the Southeast. Together, we can feed our city and strengthen our community.
